Theme Thursday - SHADOW

When Don Knotts came to my college, I was the lucky one chosen to accompany him on his Baseball skit during his show! He was charming, gracious and sweet. He did the following skit, while I played "Take me out to the Ball Game" on the grand piano, offstage. I was in the SHADOWs of backstage. Later people had one of two reactions. Either they wondered why I wasn't on stage to be seen. Or they wondered why I didn't take a bow by the curtain.
I didn't need that kind of attention and was just tickled to do it! What would your reaction been?

  1. Shadows are good places to be some times. As no doubt my teenager would say "shadows are cool"

  2. LMBO! Now I know why you stayed hidden; you were doubled over from laughing so hard, wot? HA! Great piece here, Chris. And thanks; I needed that one :)

  7. How nice to know that Don Knotts was so nice. I think I would have been happy in the shadows, I don't like the spot light much. You would have thought he would call you out...

  8. Imagine...this situation made people talk about you and wanna meet you. Sometimes that which is not seen is more intriguing I guess :)

    Great post!

  9. I love to stay in the shadows. I would have done the same as you, and probably would have been laughing too hard to bow.

  11. I tried to post this earlier so 'scuse me if you get it twice.

In my 20s I was sitting in a bar across from a good looking fellow who looked like Mel Gibson from his younger, saner days.

I told my friend "that guy looks like Mad Max".

"I know him" my friend said, "I'm going to tell him what you said"

Needless to say I was mortified but not as much as when she came back and said "He's not too flattered being compared to Don Knotts". I guess I should SPEAK UP when talking in a loud bar.
